Question about Getting Stoned

Have you gotten stoned lately?

About ten percent of the general population will experience this. Usually once it happens, expect it to continue. Men are four time more likely than women to get stoned. This is more common for women who have passed the age of 50.

My Husband Got Stoned

Here is my husband’s story. Though it might sound like my story and how I missed being on the internet. This leads up to the part about getting stoned.

After a fun filled evening with relatives, my husband waited until early morning to get stoned. Read on and you will know why he did this.

It was a busy week. We had relatives visit from out of state. Fortunately this part of our family stayed at my sister-in-laws house. Still, our house needed a good cleaning.

This meant cutting back on my online activity in order to get everything done. It was refreshing to allow time for outside activity and converse with people other than the internet type.

Every day we enjoyed their company and either had dinner out or at someone’s house. It was nice to have real conversations with adults face to face.

Thursday night, we drove the nearly 2 ½ hour drive one way to pick up our daughter from college for the weekend. That is when my husband had a bright idea. (No, it wasn’t to get stoned at this point in time.)

Friday, we would have dinner at our house. At this point, I am thinking that there is more work to be done and my house needs to be cleaned to perfection. From the cell phone, gleeful family members are accepting our invitation. Making it sound like we don’t do enough of this entertaining.

After all the calls were sent out, I said to him, “You do realize that tomorrow is your birthday? Since this was not a pre-planned party, we should yell out surprise to the guest. Like a reverse birthday party.”

As it so happened, my sister-in-law picked up a cake for both, my husband and his brother, who’s birthday is five days later. It turned out to be a great time with our delicious chicken dinner, cake and ice cream. It was late at night when everyone had left; giving the impression that this night was a success.

Then it happened...as if the evening with the family wasn't enough...

It was 3:30 am and my husband got stoned. Several times during this period, he had the dry heaves and sharp stomach pains. Three hours later, he couldn’t take much more and woke me to take him to the hospital.

At the emergency outpatient, all we needed were the flicking lights, eerie music and the darken hallways that one sees in the horror movies like Halloween. No one was at the front desk. Not a single person in the waiting room. Not one sign of a worker anywhere. We yelled out several times with my husband doubled over.

Then finally a lady came to the desk and told us that this was not her job to be up at the front. She would have to find someone.

This all seem to take forever as we sat in the waiting room. In the meantime my husband had sweat pouring down his face and in excruciating pain. At one point, he yelled out, “What kind of hospital is this?”

Two hours and a CT scan later, we were told that he had two kidney stones, with one making its way down the ureter tube. The doctor gave him a prescription for pain medication and sent us home with the notion that these would soon pass.

Since that Saturday morning, it had not been a comfortable time for him. Our remaining family get-togethers had been more of me and our daughter (until she had to go back Sunday).

If you haven’t guessed by now, this is a different type of getting stoned then doing drugs. The intro statistics refers to kidney stones.

My husband got stoned with kidney stones. A week or two from this time, the hospital will send a questionnaire/evaluation form on their performance. Can't wait to fill this out.

Kidney Stone and How it Travels

If a stone is small enough, surgery is not required.

Passage of a Stone

Four days later two of the stones passed for my husband. He claims that it was worse than having a baby. I seriously doubt that. But it possibility is the closest a man will come to the pain of giving birth.

He thought it was over, but the next day he had stomach pain. Seeing the urologist today (7/22/2100) reveled that there were three stones. The third stone has not yet entered the bladder of this writing.

Supplements and Juice For Kidney Stone Maintenance

Many natural supplements in pill form claim to dissolve or prevent kidney stones. This is information that I have read on these products. The last time my husband had kidney stones was several years old. By time we order any of these, it may be over.

Uriflow Natural Treatment for Kidney Stones - 60 Capsule

Uriflow

Uriflow reports that it was featured on national TV on “Today’s Health. It states that it alleviates kidney stone attacks by actually working on the stone itself. It breaks down the stone into smaller fragments, preventing damage to the urinary tracts as it moves out and preventing stones from forming again. It also increases the flow of urination to help flush out the ureter tubes. Uniflow claims to prevent stones from forming again. It has a proprietary formula of natural herbs, which has been researched, development and tested according to their claim.

Renavive

Renavive has some of the same ingredients as Uniflow. Phyllanthus Nirui is the first ingredient listed in their blend. This herb is said to break and eliminate kidney stones. Tribulus Terrestris, listed in both works as a diuretic and disintegrating properties on the kidney stone. It consists of botanical ingredients that relieve the pain of kidney stones by going directly to the source.

Renalon Kidney Stone Relief

Renalon Kidney Stone Relief claims to have the potential to prevent the onset of kidney stones. It may assist in the recovery time from damage caused by the passing of stones. Renalon claims to provide with the best option for maintaining kidney health and reducing your chance of stone formation.

Renalis Kidney Stone Free Relief Aid

Renalis Kidney Stone Free Relief Aid has the same claims for preventing the onset of kidney stones. Taking the supplement will aid in Speeding the recovery time from damage caused by the passing of stones. Renalis claims to promote the health of the urinary tract, reducing urinary calcium levels, and assisting with the passage of developed stones, with the natural herbal ingredients taken daily.

Stone Free Herbal

Stone Free is an herbal combination to support the kidney and gallbladder. It contains a blend of turmeric root, dandelion root, ginger root, lemon balm, marshmallow root, parsley root and licorice root.

Botanic Choice Ultra Kidney Complex Capsules

Botanic Choice Ultra Kidney Complex Capsules work to help the nephrons, kidneys and urinary tract filter and discharge wastes, properly and naturally. Eliminating unnecessary, unnatural chemicals in your system that we consume with foods, liquids, and even the chemicals you breathe every day. Many of these toxins are filtered through the kidneys. If there is an overload of these toxins, the kidneys are working on overtime, causing a breakdown in their function.

Important Juice

Lemon Juice raises citrate levels in the urine, which might protect against calcium stones. Add one-half cup of pure lemon juice to 64 oz of water. Drink this every day.

Blackcurrant Juice reduces the acidity that is associated with uric acid stones, thus preventing this type of kidney stone from forming.

Education of Kidney Stones

Learning everything there is to know about kidney stones is the best way to prevent stones in the first place.

Symptoms of kidney stones (though not always):

Pain felt in the left side of the back and left side of the belly.

In some cases, pain may move to the groin and testicles.

Abnormal urine color

Blood in the urine

Chills

Fever

Nausea

Vomiting

Dry heaves

Treatment:

Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, or as instructed by the physician.

Medication can help in relieving the pain and the increasing the flow of the urine.

Some medication can help in aiding the reduction of the stone.

Surgery if the stone is too large and the last choice, if all else fails, though this is less evasive then it once was.

Four types of kidney stones:

Calcium stones are most common and found more often in men. Calcium usually combines with oxalate, phosphate, or carbonate to form the stone. Certain foods contain oxalate.

Cystine stones can form in people who have cystinuria. Cystinuria is caused by too much of an amino acid called cystine in the urine. After entering the kidneys, most cystine normally dissolves and goes back into the bloodstream. People with cystinuria have a genetic defect that interferes with this process. Cystine then builds up in the urine and forms crystals or stones, which may get stuck in the kidneys, ureters, or bladder.

Struvite stones are mostly found in women who have a urinary tract infection. These stones can grow very large and can block the kidney, ureter, or bladder.

Uric acid stones are more common in men than in women. They can occur with gout or chemotherapy.
