By Sandyspider
Traditional Way
Ingredients:
6 large bell peppers (green, red or yellow)
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, finely diced
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon sage
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
dash of pepper
1 cup dry rice, cooked
1 (15 ounce) can spaghetti sauce
3/4 to 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (I prefer sharp)
Directions:
1. Cut stem end off each pepper. Remove seeds and membranes;
rinse. Cook peppers in enough boiling water to cover 5 minutes; drain. Carefully move the peppers to a 9x12 inch ungreased baking pan in a standing upright position.
2. Cook and stir the ground beef and onion in skillet until hamburger is brown; drain. Stir in all the ingredients up to the cooked rice, and 1 cup of the spaghetti sauce; heat thoroughly.
3. Stuff each pepper with the meat mixture. Pour remaining sauce over peppers. Cover with foil; cook in 350 degree F oven for 45 minutes. Uncover; cook 15 minutes longer. Remove from oven and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
Makes 6 servings.

Making Stuffed Peppers (Another Recipe)
Easy Tasty Stuffed Bell Peppers
This is my own recipe that I use most often. I find it tastier
than the Traditional Stuffed Pepper recipe. Last time I used red bell peppers. Red bell peppers are a little sweeter than the green bell peppers.
Ingredients:
6 large green bell peppers
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 package taco seasoning mix
3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or desired amount)
1 box Spanish Rice Mix
1 1/2 cups water
1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes (crushed)
1 tablespoon butter
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
Directions:
1. Cut thin slice from stem end of each pepper. Remove seeds
and membranes; rinse. Cook peppers in enough boiling water to cover 5 minutes;
drain.
2. Cook and stir hamburger and onion in 10-inch skillet
until hamburger is light brown; drain. Add taco seasoning mix. Cook as directed
on package.
3. In a two quart saucepan cook the Spanish rice as
instructed. According to the directions on the box that I have: Combine 1 1/2 cups
water, 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes (crushed), 1 tablespoon butter and
Spanish Rice Mix. Stir well and bring to boil.
4. Stir rice, reduce heat, cover and simmer over low heat
for 25 minutes or until all water is absorbed.
5. Remove rice mixture from heat and let stand for 5
minutes.
6. Combine hamburger and rice mixture.
3. Stuff each pepper with mixture; stand upright in
ungreased baking dish, 9x12 inches. Pour tomato sauce over peppers. Cover with
foil; cook in 350 degree F oven for 45 minutes. Uncover; cook 15 minutes
longer. Remove from oven and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
Makes 6 servings.
Note: I have substituted chili in place of the rice or combined the two. The great thing about stuffed peppers is that you can use your imagination.

Sounds delicious.
Hi sandyspider, both of your recipes sounds selicious. I would surely try them as i love to cook in new ways.
This is a beautiful website that is pleasing to the eye. And I love stuffed bell peppers. In this economy it is a really healthy way to have inexpensive food with a gourmet touch.
Yum, i love bell peppers. Hadn't thought of using spanish rice mix and taco seasoning. We used to make them with ground ham and rice.
To Heartaday, I haven't heard of ham and rice before. But it sounds good.
Sounds very good. HUMMMM!
I like that you are using the red and yellow peppers. I enjoy them much more than the green ones. Good job with the video. I know this recipe has to be good, it looks great.
These recipes are great Sandy. I never thought of using a red pepper. Good Idea!
I think I might really like the second one. I use red bells in a lot of things. The green ones sometimes seem a little bitter to me.
Sounds yummy!
This is a different recipe than what I grew up with (which was overcooked, I think), and I will try this one asap. Thanks very much!
This is exactly what I needed. I have lots of peppers in the garden right now that I need to pick. But I was not sure what I was going to do with them.
Glad I can help Ashley. We had a late spring, so I am still waiting for my peppers.
This looks like a great recipe. I love those pictures too.
I really enjoy stuffed peppers, but I am just to lazy to make them and the kids will not eat them yet. Wanna come over and cook for me?
That's a tasty hub!
Hubby loves these! I'll have to try them.
Interesting I never thought to melt cheese over the top of my stuffed peppers. I will have to give that a try. Thanks for a great read.
It's always fun adding someone else's recipes. Thank you for sharing. Should be interesting to try. :)
You've brought me down memory lane!! My mom use to make stuffed peppers for dinner, and they were to die for!!! After reading this, I just may try to make a few since I'm having cravings for them now!!! lol Thanks!
Made the second recipe, and they were great!
Thanks habee. Actually, I use the second recipe more than I do the first. I think it has a better taste.
I like the taco seasoning with the stuffed peppers. I make stuffed peppers almost like you do, but I do not pre cook everything. I stuff the uncooked peppers with raw hamb mixture with minute rice, pour some V8 over the entire thing and then bake the peppers until tender and done. Prep time is all of 5 minutes. So fast and easy.
Sometimes I let them sit a day, as this will bring out all the flavors better.
Another good hub! I love peppers - although the red bell is my absolute favorite. You're givin me great ideas this week - much thanks :-) Rock on!
was looking for the perfect stuffed bell pepper recipe and looks like I found it!
