Terror on American
Should We Rejoice?
It is a time to celebrate in America that after the 9/11 attacks on the US. After all, our military killed Osama bin Laden.
On the other hand, is it a time now more than ever, we have to be weary of what will happen next?
More than likely, his right hand man, Ayman al Zawahiri, will be his replacement. Al-Zawahiri, along with Osama bin Laden organized an Al-Qaida congress on June 24, 1998. Moreover, on April 30, 2009, the US State Department reported that Zawahiri had emerged as al-Qaeda's operational and strategic commander. Leaving Osama bin Laden as the figurehead of the organization.
On Sept. 11, 2011, Osama bin Laden, as the founder of the al-Qaeda organization; mastermind the attacks on the United States. These coordinated suicide attacks included four hijacked commercial passenger jet airliners by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists.
Their assignment in place was to crash two of the airliners into the TwinTowers of the WorldTradeCenter in New York City. Everyone on board the airline was killed upon impact to the TwinTowers. It was a sorrow-filled day. Many works in the buildings died and many firefighters who tried to save their lives. Two hours later, both tower buildings collapsed. Nearby buildings were destroyed and other buildings were damaged.
A second attack from the hijackers in a third airliner crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. This terrorists attack killed 184 people from the Pentagon and extensive damage to the structure of the building.
The third terrorist attack on the United States was the hijack of a fourth airline. We believe that the target was either the CapitolBuilding or the White House. That mission failed in the respect of some of its passengers and flight crew attempted to retake control of the plane. Causing it to crash into a field near Shanksville, located in rural Pennsylvania and killed everyone on the plane. However, no casualty outside of the plane due to the courage acts of these American people.
The casualties of the September 11, 2001 took 2,996 lives, including the 19 hijackers.

Wear Your Osama bin Laden T Shirt Proudly
In the American fashion, we celebrate with merchandise. Some may think of it as sick, others as a clever way to make a buck. Either way, we are a country of entrepreneurs. It is our way of saying that we still have free speech.
Celebrate that after ten years of hiding, we have killed Bin Laden. But don't go back into your fairy tale world prior to 9/11, that we are invincible.

Hope you do really well. I know he is dead but what is to come?
Interesting hub, Sandy, although I'm not sure that the death of Bin Laden really changes anything much when it comes to terrorism. I'm in the camp of thinking that such overt triumphant celebrations could be stirring up more trouble than people realise, but as you say free expression.
The thing is that it doesn't tend to be mainland America that has to suffer the backlash, and I personally do not want to have to live through another day in London like the July bombings of 2005, when I was on the tube train directly behind the one that was blown up at Aldgate.
Everything has commercial value. Thanks sharing.
Thanks for sharing this one.
This is so typical, everything indeed has a commercial value.
Sadly but there we are.!!
Thank you for sharing this one.
Take care

Ding Dong, the wicked witch is dead!!
This is one of those topics where you're going to get a range of comments, pro and con.
I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one, Sandy. I can't think of any reason to celebrate the death of anyone, no matter how heinous their acts against humanity are. I'm not justifying what bin Laden has done, but there are always two sides to a story. Calling him "evil" simply absolves us from the responsibility of making an attempt to understand why this man and his followers did and continue to do the things they do.
It also makes it easy for us not to take a close look at ourselves to see how our actions (i.e., the actions of the U.S. government) might be contributing to this kind of terrorism against us.
Killing bin Laden and celebrating his death are not going to end terrorism; these actions simply provides more fuel to fan the flames of a never-ending cycle of revenge, violence, and more revenge ...
It's a complex issue, Sandy, with no easy answers. For that reason, I think it's important to try to understand as much about the conflict as possible, something we Americans (myself included) don't always take the time to do.
Sporting t-shirts with a photo of Bin Laden with a bullet through his head is nothing short of sick. I would question the mind-set of people who would wish to display such an image in a celebratory manner. That such t-shirts are being manufactured in children's sizes is even more appalling! What sort of value on life does this teach our children?
Good riddance to Bin Laden.... but what kind of animals have we become that we can celebrate a death in such a grotesque manner?
I am just glad he's no longer with us. He has paid for some of the grief he caused. I do think some of the items are in poor taste. Good article!
Sandyspider, I haven't personally seen any Holocaust victims parading around with Hitler emblazoned on their t-shirts, but I do take your point..... it still doesn't make it tasteful or dignified.
Strange I do not have a rejoicing feeling over anyone's death and there is many more like him out there to get before we start celebrating I think. I don't like to look at him dead or alive, you couldn't pay me to advertise him.
Hey Sandy, it is definitely a controversial issue and reminds me of the hub I wrote when the move, Avatar, came out. A lot of people where saying it was racist so I decided to write a hub about it. I got SO MANY comments, both pro and con (and a few that were downright nasty), that at one point I was feeling kind of sorry I'd ever written it, but that's the chance we take when we tackle controversial subjects like these.
I agree with you. This was controversial issue. I don't wear this in my country. But thanks for writing this. Take care!

Good hub. Boy they don't waste any time rolling the T-shirts off the presses, do they? I wouldn't give him the exposure of wearing him on my body.
