People are becoming more aware of the travel insurance policy and they buy the insurance policy as soon as they plan their trip. But there are some people who do not bother buying travel insurance because they are not aware of the importance and the benefits of having a travel insurance policy in place when you are on the trip.

For those who still do not understand the importance of a travel insurance policy, here are a few factors that highlight the benefits and importance of the buying a travel insurance policy:

· Medical Expenses: This is the most important reason to buy a travelling insurance policy; it covers all your medical expenses while you are on holiday. In the event of any unforeseen sickness or accidents you will need emergency medical assistance, and cost of care may be expensive in some locations. If you have travel insurance in place you will not have to worry about those expanses, any air ambulance and repatriation expanse will also be covered under the policy.

· Holiday Cancellation: For those peoples who plan their holiday few months earlier this feature is very beneficial. You don’t know if something happens before the trip forcing you to cancel the trip and the cancellation of travel tickets, hotel bookings, etc.… may cause you huge financial loss. In the event of sudden death of any family member, or illness of you, or a travel companion, or a close relative, the insurance policy will cover all the losses.

· Missed Flights: Even if you get yourself sufficient time to reach the airport including the check in time and all, sometimes an unexpected delay can cause a missed flight. You never know if you get stuck in the traffic jam, or breakdown of your vehicle happens. These circumstances may cause financial loss of may lead to cancellation of the trip. With a travel insurance you will not have to think about the cancellation of your trip, in the case you missed your flight you may get another flight and all the travel expense until you reach your destination, will be covered by the insurance company.

· Theft or Loss of Personal Belongings: It is a common issue with the tourists; they are often the victim of mugging in another country. If you lose your money or personal belongings by accidents or in case of theft the insurance company will cover all these. The document like credit cards, passports, visa, or other travelling documents are very important, and loss or theft of these documents is a very serious incident, so it is important to get a travel insurance to cover for such losses.

· Legal Expenses: As a tourist in a foreign country you may face any legal problem or you may get involved in any unlawful activity. You will need legal assistance in such cases hiring a lawyer may be expensive. The travel insurance helps you to cover some of your legal expenses.

· Curtailment: In the case of serious illness or sudden death in your family or of a close relative, you may have to postpone your further trip and return back to your home. The travel insurance policy covers the cost of curtailing your trip.
