I Survived the Polar Vortex Both Times
The Polar Vortex Hits Canada and the United States
The photo shows a GOES-13 satellite image on January 2, 2014 by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. This view was taken with an on going blizzard. Shown going across areas of the Northeastern states and the Ohio RiverValley of the United States. The blustery cold air moved down from Canada in this Arctic air blast.
The Polar vortex has hit the United States twice this year. Living in Wisconsin, one of the Midwestern States, we are often called the frozen tundra because of our freezing cold snowy winters.
The Polar vortex is nothing new. What is new about it is that it has traveled as far from the Antarctica to Canada and the upper part of the Midwestern States and over to the North Eastern States.
Just what is this circular swirling movement of air?
This is known as many other names, polar low, polar cyclone, or a circumpolar whirl in the sky. The first Polar vortex was spotted over Maine, USA and Quebec, Canada on January 21, 1985.
The cold air mass is located near either of the earth's geographical poles. It is a cold core low pressure mass that builds strength in the winter time and weakens in the summer. The air will circulate in a counter-clockwise swirling movement. The bone chilling air is known as the Arctic front, a better name for the cold front. It builds up momentum in a cyclone type movement in the upper atmosphere. It can span no less then 620 miles wide in the Northern Hemisphere.

Polar Vortex and the Sequel T-Shirts
The only thing that comes out of this freezing cold weather is the products that are shown on different print on demand shopping sites. Since I live in the Midwest and have been experiencing this drastic polar vortex of cold air, it gave me some relief to have created a line of products in different styles. Call them souvenirs to look back on.
The t-shirts are only a small part of these products from Sandyspider Gifts on Zazzle. Postcards, refrigerator magnets and bumper stickers are just some of the popular items that a person would buy to own a piece of history of this blustery cold snap during the winter of 2014
These t-shirts below are part of many other gift items of the Polar Vortex are found on Natures Fury (current Events) Gifts - Polar Vortex when you click here.
