One Year on HubPages

June 2009, I joined HubPages. Not new to me, since some online friends were Hubbers. Feeling overloaded with my other online activities, I would turn down invitations to join.

Then Hubber, bgamall (Gary) asked me to join at the time I was working on becoming a Giant Squid on Squidoo. Cut off date was the end of June. I had to have 50 premium lenses (articles) and in good standing to become a Giant Squid. (50 articles may not sound like much to most Hubbers, but it is on Squidoo.) I had no time for HubPages.

After declining Gary’s offer to join, I thought it would end there. But Gary was persistent. He told me of one Hubber who made $400 one month off Adsense. I realize that this isn’t the norm, but it got me thinking. It doesn’t hurt to join.

This is my anniversary celebration. With picture perfomance that outpaces today's smaller flat panels, Mitsubishi Home Theater TVs offer a larger than life, intensely vivid viewing experience. This would look nice in my living room.

The Writing Begins

Wrote my first Hub June 17, 2009. Chicken Teriyaki. Followed by the wait on who would read this Hub. Six people for the month of June, with bgamall’s comment in there too.

Three weeks later after making Giant Squid. It was time to write another Hub. Stuffed Bell Peppers brought in thirteen people who commented for that month. More than double!!!

Obviously traffic was something I needed to find. Too bad I hadn’t joined HubNuggets. This would have been a tremendous boost in traffic, a larger fan base and even some fun.

Type in sandyspider or sandyspiderbite and one would see that I am crawling all over the internet. Not to mention, there are a few other names out there that I have used. Finding time for HubPages was sporadic.

On March 2010, I joined Health Awareness Month and the 30 day challenge. Prior to this challenge, I had 94 followers and 13 hubs. It has grown since.

Still not understanding the scoring system on HubPages; (as of this writing) my personal score peaked at 89. My highest scoring hub Setting up a Blog on RedGage peaked to 94.

My lowest scoring hub is 'St. Patrick's Day T-shirts', at one time scored in the 80s, now is 56. Even my "health" hubs that had all reached in the 80s, many are in the 60s. Does this mean people keep voting them down? How do they lose points?

I have been told that it is the outside traffic that counts and don’t worry about the Hub score. But without a high enough Hub score, where can one be found on Google?

Not knowing the exact day that I had joined HubPages this has been sitting waiting to be published. I do know now that I had joined June 6, 2009. After peaking out the first week in June 2010 at 89 and the time of publishing this hub it is now 83. I have come to terms that I will be forever stuck in the 80s.
